Lucy plus Inkfish = MA (Distinction) Brighton’s Lucy Crowther, an HR Business Partner, managed one of life’s tougher challenges when she took an MA in HR Management from Brighton University, while working full time for Inkfish at the Queen’s Square Call Centre. Her degree, which also gives her graduate membership of professional body, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, took three and a half years to complete, all in her spare time. Lucy was awarded a Distinction overall and her final dissertation on the impact of management gender on the disciplinary process was so good that publication within Inkfish is being considered. Says a delighted Lucy: “It’s probably a bit like running a marathon only a lot lot longer! Inkfish has been very supportive and the great thing was to be able to put some of the theory into practice all the way through. It’s given me much more confidence as well as helping me to think more strategically about HR. I do truly believe that the future will see qualifications such as this as mandatory in our profession.” Inkfish Operations Manager, Steve Morris, adds: “We're delighted with Lucy's achievement. Inkfish strongly encourages our people to go for professional qualifications in their field. As well as financial help for fees and books, we're also flexible about time off for study and, of course, give as much support as we can." - ends -
