Inkfish’s Goal for Stroke Hospital It may not get quite so many viewers as the World Cup but the football match at Rottingdean Football Club next Tuesday, 11th April, between Inkfish Call Centre in-house teams, the Post Office Reds and the Sky Blues will be every bit as intense, as the teams rival each other to raise funds to support Southlands Hospital Rehabilitation Department. They’ve been inspired to help because of the superb care the hospital has given to a colleague after he suffered a stroke. Team Member Leo Little, was left unable to speak and paralysed down one side and admitted to Southlands Hospital Rehabilitation Department where he is working towards his recovery. To show their support his Inkfish friends are swinging into action to raise funds for the hospital and to provide remedial equipment for Leo when he goes home. The big match takes place between the ‘Post Office’ and the ‘Sky’ teams, comprising agents working on these Inkfish clients. Each side will sport the colours of their ‘sponsor’; it’s red for the Post Office and ‘Sky’ blue (and black) for Sky and both teams are training hard. The Post Office squad, which includes Sam Assefi and Mawan Alfandi, both Sussex County players, plus ex semi pro Darren Clewlow, has been training every Sunday for the past month. Hangovers are not allowed by Manager Mark Purser, who says his side will win with its advantage of age, experience and technical expertise. In the Sky corner, dedication is just as strong with Sunday training for the 13-man squad. Manager Stavros Stamatakis believes his side’s advantage of youth, stamina and endurance will carry the day. Besides the football a Fun Run, organised in March, raised over £500, and attracted matched funding from the Inkfish Community Involvement budget to give the appeal a flying start. A pub quiz follows on 13 th April. Says Mark Purser: “We’re all so pleased that Leo has been making good progress at Southlands; it was the least we could do to raise funds to help the hospital. May the best team win but let’s hope both raise lots more money!” - ends - For further information, please contact Ruth de Mierre on 01444 453399 (mobile: 07870 267344) Editor's Notes:
