Mayor gets in training for Sports Relief The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, David Smith, will be joining call centre agents at Inkfish on Thursday 6 th July for a spot of training as he prepares to take the first call when the pledges come in for Sport Relief on 15 th July at Inkfish’s Queen Square office. The company, part of the Domestic & General group, is donating 100 lines to Comic Relief, who are sponsoring Sport Relief, from 6:30-midnight. Inkfish teams will be on the call desks ready for the expected thousands of calls. The Mayor will officially ‘open’ the lines at 6pm and will take the first call from a donor. Matt Stevens, Head of Operations at Inkfish, says: “The enthusiasm here for Sports Relief is terrific and we’re all looking forward to a really busy night on the desks for the Mayor and our agents! In the best Inkfish tradition, however, we want to make sure that the Mayor has been properly trained before he takes his first call!” Mayor, David Smith, is excited about his initiation into the world of call centres: “Sports Relief is such a wonderful opportunity to help so many people but I must admit I was a little nervous about going on the phones, so it’s really good news that Inkfish will train me up beforehand! But what I find really heartening is that all their staff are prepared to give up a whole Saturday night, unpaid, to help.” Brighton’s Operations Manager, Steve Morris, is delighted to have Ian on board: “To have a man of Ian’s experience is a big boost for us. He’s got a major role to play in the Post Office account which has grown significantly for us.” - ends - Editor's Notes
